LILCH NEWS

11.09.2009 - Updates Galore!

Hi there! So, it's been a little too long. Things have been incredibly busy for me and I'm really happy to be able to share some news about projects i've been working on!

I'm happy to share that Tying Your Own Shoes, an animated documentary by Shira Avni premiered in Leipzig just last month, and won the Golden Dove, the grand prize for best short documentary! The is a film about the lives of four adult artists with Down Syndrome.I helped animate a few scenes and was truly touched to have been a part or such a special project. Check out this little clip of rough animation that I did, based on a drawing by Ninah, one of the four artists:

Speaking of the NFB, I also helped animate on Peggy Baker: Four Phrases , an abstract-ish film directed by lovely Howie Shia about the Canadian dance legend Peggy Baker. It's been hitting the festival circuit lately but you can also find it on this FANTASTIC blu-ray collection from the NFB. One of the more interesting projects i've done lately, particularly because we were experimenting with the rotoscoping technique. Check out the stills HERE.

Currently animating on Ann Marie Fleming's next NFB film based on the illustrated memoir I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors. Should be interesting.

Wow, lots of NFB in this post. I have been working on a few commercial projects too, but I'll tell you about them some other time.

One last thing, I recently animated a little ecard for Platypus, an ethical e-card website dedicated to supporting green projects that reduce carbon emissions. A very cool start-up with very cool ideas. Anyways, below if the final animation- enjoy!
